Belleview Bee Nest Removal

Bee Removal at River Run Marine in Belleview, FL

Project Overview

River Run Marine contacted Wildlife Works about a large active beehive that had formed inside a wall cavity of their concrete building. The hive posed a growing safety concern, especially due to its height near the ceiling. Our team was tasked with accessing and removing the hive while preserving the colony for live relocation. Given the location and structure, the project required both technical skill and humane care.

Challenges

The hive was situated behind thick concrete near the upper wall, requiring removal to be performed from a ladder. This elevated and enclosed position introduced challenges in access, visibility, and technician safety. Additionally, relocating a live colony without causing distress to the bees—or triggering defensive behavior—demanded a precise and methodical approach.

Our Approach

The technician carefully opened the wall around the hive to create a minimal but sufficient access point. Working from a ladder, we identified and secured the queen bee, prompting the colony to follow her into a transport box. This queen-led strategy is critical to humane relocation and colony survival.

After the bees were safely contained, the hive structure was extracted from the wall. We ensured that all residual materials were cleared to reduce future pest risks and prevent bees from returning to the same site.

Results

The entire process, including inspection and removal, was completed in four hours. The bee colony was successfully relocated to a licensed bee farm where it could continue its pollination work. The structural integrity of the building remained intact, and River Run Marine was left with a clean, secure space free from bee activity. This project exemplifies our commitment to both humane wildlife practices and client safety.
