Squirrels are one of the most common attic intruders in Central Florida homes. Their ability to climb rooflines, access small openings, and chew through vulnerable materials makes them a serious nuisance for homeowners. Once inside an attic, squirrels may contaminate insulation, damage wiring, and create persistent noise disturbances during daylight hours.
In this project, the homeowner noticed signs of activity coming from the attic and contacted Wildlife Works for a professional inspection. Mary inspected the property and identified active squirrel entry points concentrated around the roof’s eave returns. Evidence confirmed that squirrels had been using the attic as a shelter location.
After documenting the activity and identifying vulnerable openings, our team created an exclusion plan focused on allowing the squirrel to safely exit while securing the home against future intrusion.
The primary challenge involved sealing all potential re-entry points while still maintaining a safe exit route for the squirrel currently inside the attic. Squirrels are persistent animals and will often attempt to regain access if even small gaps remain unsealed.
Because the activity centered around multiple eave return areas, the project required careful inspection and sealing work to ensure the entire roofline was protected rather than addressing only the visible entry point.
Monitoring was also important to confirm that the squirrel had successfully exited before the final closure of the one-way door system.
Technician Zack began the exclusion process by professionally sealing:
The one-way door allowed the squirrel to leave the attic naturally during normal activity periods while preventing re-entry into the structure.
To verify successful removal, Wildlife Works installed a monitoring camera focused on the exclusion device. This allowed our team to confirm that the squirrel had exited safely and that no additional activity remained inside the attic before completing the final seal-up.
This approach helps provide long-term protection for the homeowner while minimizing unnecessary stress to the animal.
The squirrel successfully exited the attic through the one-way exclusion door, and monitoring footage confirmed that no further attic activity remained.
All identified entry points were professionally sealed to help prevent future squirrel intrusion, giving the homeowner a secure long-term solution. The attic space is now protected from additional wildlife access, and the homeowner no longer experiences squirrel activity inside the home.
